These are heartbreaking and I love that this person has a sense of humor, even in dire straits, which doesn't change the desperation at all...maybe even it makes it more difficult... to know one's role if one has a role and not be able to change it or feel able to. When I see these signs the question of the "con" doesn't come through, only the desperation, and the lack of hope. They evoke more compassion from me than I feel when I am looking at the face of an addict (a reflection) and find a judging spot inside of me. Really powerful call to compassion for people who feel stuck. However they got there.
